Teaching children

I know this sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to some, so I apologize ahead of time for any offense...but it really was some harmless fun in an attempt to teach a lesson. So don't think ill of us as parents. I'm sure every parent thinks about doing this at one point or another.

Same day as Sammy's run in with the coffee table, Constance needed to learn how to sit still. We had put her in time out for whatever reason on this red couch, and she would not sit still. In the first minute, she had moved around so much that she had fallen off the couch twice...and this was right after we had gotten home from the Instacare where Sammy got glued for doing the same thing! We were a bit frustrated, so we thought we might need to teach her how to sit still...just for fun (sometimes parents go to drastic measures for their children) :) Jeremy got out my yarn and decided to tie her up for a minute or 2. At first Constance thought it was great fun and willingly wrapped herself up in the yarn. But, after the 2nd minute of sitting still on the couch, she wasn't too happy about it. Amazingly enough, she has not had such a hard time sitting still since then. I would not recommend this for everyone...it started out as just a joke which ended in an entertaining reality for all involved :)

Not-so-happy Constance just before
the 2 minute mark.

Constance really enjoyed being wrapped up...
and apparently Jeremy enjoyed it too much! :)

Sammy's war wound

As you all know, accidents tend to happen the most on holidays...at home. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Sammy helped us out with that by jumping on the couch and falling off, splitting her face open and possibly breaking her nose. We took her to the Instacare and luckily her wound was so straight and clean that it had already sealed itself, so she didn't need stitches...but the doctor put some glue on it so it wouldn't come back open. Her nose was swollen for about 24 hours, but when the swelling went down, we found that she did not break it...thank goodness! We now have 'no more monkey's jumping on the bed'...or the couch. We only have one picture, and it was a few hours after the doctor put the glue on, so it doesn't look as bad as it was right after.

Jeremy's birthday

Jeremy just celebrated his 27th birthday on Sunday (January 3rd), so we had a fun family get together for that. The first time Sammy blew out the candle, so we lit it again and let Jeremy blow it out! :) I guess we'll see who gets their wish come true!

Sammy's first dance class ever!

Today was Sammy's first dance class, and she had such a good time! We showed up there and she immediately went up to almost every person (teacher and student) to introduce herself and make new friends! She did a very good job obeying her teacher and getting along with everyone in the class. I just wish Constance was already 3 years old so they could be in there together, but we will have to wait another few months for her to start in a class. I am so happy that we can actually have something more social for Sammy to do before school in the fall.

New 'do'

So, I felt the need for change, and Carmen very graciously helped me out (thanks, Carmen!). We colored my hair more of a red color, and Carmen trimmed my split ends :)

Happy New Year!

We were able to have some great 'bubbly' (as Jeremy calls it) in some fun plastic cups for New Years. The girls loved it and looked so cute holding the 'champagne' (plastic) glasses. Dave came to share the experience with us and we all had a lot of fun!

More Christmas 2009

The girls were spoiled especially in the clothing gifts! Pajamas and dresses from both the Butler and Purnell sides of the family! Thanks to everyone. The girls loved it all :)

Christmas 2009

Well, we had a really great Christmas. We went to Idaho Falls and although Sammy, Constance, and Jeremy caught a cold while there, we had a good time visiting family and friends :) The girls loved their gifts and loved to have pictures taken, so here are just a few.
