Teaching children

I know this sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to some, so I apologize ahead of time for any offense...but it really was some harmless fun in an attempt to teach a lesson. So don't think ill of us as parents. I'm sure every parent thinks about doing this at one point or another.

Same day as Sammy's run in with the coffee table, Constance needed to learn how to sit still. We had put her in time out for whatever reason on this red couch, and she would not sit still. In the first minute, she had moved around so much that she had fallen off the couch twice...and this was right after we had gotten home from the Instacare where Sammy got glued for doing the same thing! We were a bit frustrated, so we thought we might need to teach her how to sit still...just for fun (sometimes parents go to drastic measures for their children) :) Jeremy got out my yarn and decided to tie her up for a minute or 2. At first Constance thought it was great fun and willingly wrapped herself up in the yarn. But, after the 2nd minute of sitting still on the couch, she wasn't too happy about it. Amazingly enough, she has not had such a hard time sitting still since then. I would not recommend this for everyone...it started out as just a joke which ended in an entertaining reality for all involved :)

Not-so-happy Constance just before
the 2 minute mark.

Constance really enjoyed being wrapped up...
and apparently Jeremy enjoyed it too much! :)

Ah.... I had to laugh when I saw this..... that's great ;) It's good to see that it was a teaching experience, but it's something that you can also laugh about. :)

Hey I ended up going private with my blog, so I need your email address to add you. You can send your e-mail address to kathypurnell@yahoo.com.

Jeremy wanted to note that Constance really did enjoy the experience. She loves to twirl and spin until she is too dizzy to stand up, so the unraveling the yarn was the best part for her!
